Product Development Engineer I
Job Description:
The Design Engineer I's primary role will be to coordinate the planning, design, offering and implementation of attachment products for the Wacker Neuson compact equipment product lines (skid steers, mini-excavators, telehandlers and wheel loaders).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Implementation and Monitoring of New Product Development:
- Defines compact equipment requirements and specifications for North American attachments.
- Handles all technical issues and questions for attachments for the Wacker Neuson Compact Equipment line.
- Integrates attachment requirements and provides input throughout the Wacker Neuson Product Development Process (PDP) to ensure North America compatibility.
- Troubleshoots and follows up on technical issues to ensure proper resolution.
- He works closely with Field Sales, Product Management, and Product Support to identify attachment and product application concerns or opportunities.
- Evaluate different attachment sources, including European and North American manufacturers, to provide attachment solutions that meet North American application needs.
- Test sample attachments on different models of equipment and evaluate their safety and operation of them.
- Evaluates the needs for attachments, accessories, and kits for specific product lines.
- Works with Product Managers to establish strategic goals for the products and proposes new attachments that will provide a sales advantage and make commercial and technical sense.
- Supports the Purchasing Department during supplier negotiations.
- Ensures spare parts and manuals are available.
- Assists Product Managers and Marketing in creating supporting materials, managing the rollout into our SAP system, and introducing new products to the market.
- Communicates technical issues and integration of design requirements from the market to appropriate CE Factory personnel and partners with production facilities and engineering globally. Discusses strategic plans with Product Management and assists in adjusting the product strategy for assigned products.
- Maintains an open issue list and its status and follows up on the issues to ensure proper and timely resolution.
- Prepares technical news bulletins that inform the Field Sales Force and dealers of product improvements and product changes.

Required Skills:
Qualifications: Additional years of experience or education may be substituted for each other as determined by Human Resources.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required.
- A minimum of one year of Product Development and Design Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment OR being in your Graduation Year from Engineering School is required. Design and development experience in Construction and/or Industrial Equipment is preferred.
- Proven ability to work with global engineering staff.
- Proficient skills in 2D and 3D Computer Aided Design. Experience with NX preferred, including the use of top-down design methodology.
- Interpersonal skills to work with all levels of the organization to effectively communicate technical ideas.
- Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- If less than 5 years of work experience after college, We will require a copy of Transcripts indicating a minimum GPA of 3.0 (cumulative or within your major) is preferred.
